Alpine Introduces Full Speed iPod Connection across 2007 range

Alpine Introduces Full Speed iPod Connection across 2007 range

Consumers’ top desire when using an iPod® in the car is claimed to be the ability to search faster. Now Alpine Electronics is answering that call thanks to a new Embedded Software Platform across their 2007 range of in-car head units that makes searching faster and easier.

The Full Speed Connection™ for iPod feature is Alpine’s third-generation solution for integrated iPod use in the car. It works via a simple cable (KCE-422i) that directly links an iPod to Alpine’s 2007 source units, without a bulky hideaway box. The Full Speed Connection for iPod capability lets users control their iPod through the head unit, with the experience being more like directly interfacing with the iPod itself.

Enhanced features include faster data transmission for quick and easy file navigation, as well as full-tag artist, album, song and playlist information displayed directly on the head unit, and charging the iPod battery as well.

"As the digital audio market continues to expand, consumer demand for bringing their digital content into the car is skyrocketing", said Graham Johnson, Sales & Marketing Director, Alpine Electronics of UK Ltd. "Consumers love their iPods and expect fast control over them, whether in or outside of the car. We give them this speed with our new Full Speed Connection for iPod feature."

Alpine’s exclusive Quick Search™ function allows for quick navigation by playlist, artist, album or song. Even faster file searching can be found in the new 2007 models with Alpine’s new Percentage Search function. Percentage Search takes the iPod’s entire music library and divides it into six percentage groupings. Then, using the head unit’s six preset buttons, users can browse by pushing one of the presets to quickly jump to the desired section of the playlist, album, artist or song list, instead of scrolling through files one by one.

The Full Speed Connection for iPod (KCE-422i) is available now from authorised Alpine dealers at an RRP of £19.99. It is compatible with any updated iPod with a dock connector, as well as an iPod video, iPod nano, iPod photo or iPod mini. Alpine's 2007 Full Speed Connection-compatible source units, sold separately, are available through authorised dealers.
