IXOS High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet, meets Automotive Connection System specification for in-vehicle HD

The pace of technology advancement in the audio/visual and home theatre markets shows no sign of slowing, with larger, higher definition LCD and Plasma screens, HD digital boxes and Blu-ray players dictating who has the edge in the home market today. In the Automotive field, this is sure to lead to a demand for HD content distribution, and this is being addressed by the HDMI 1.4 Automotive Connection System specification and by cable manufacturers such as IXOS.

In the home, the hardware relies on being well connected, and as the signal demands become greater, the chances of having a weak link in the system also increase. IXOS leads the race when it comes to HD cabling, with the new IXOS Certified High Definition 2160p Quad-HD cable able to meet the demands of all v1.4 components, including components with Ethernet capabilities.

The 1.4 specifications will standardize the input/output portion of a home 3D system and will specify up to dual-stream 1080p resolution. 4K x 2K resolution support will enable HDMI devices to support high-definition (HD) resolutions four times beyond the resolution of 1080p.

In-vehicle usage brings its own additional demands. The Automotive Connection System is a cable specification designed for in-vehicle HD content distribution. The HDMI 1.4 specification will provide a solution designed to meet the rigors and environmental issues commonly found in automobiles, such as heat, vibration and noise.

The Xen XHT668 HDMI cable from IXOS builds on the superior construction and performance of its 5-Star predecessor, the XHT658. Its proprietary Nitrogen Gas-Injected Polyethylene Dielectric significantly reduces the Dielectric Constant, maintaining the precise impedance for flawless transfer of HDMI 1.4 Category 2 with Ethernet.

The highly conductive silver plated Pure Crystal Oxygen-Free Copper (PC-OFC) conductors easily accommodate the significantly increased bandwidth required to transmit Quad-HD (2160p) and 3D digital Video, while 24K Gold Plated conductors prevent oxidation, for longevity and durability. The Micro HDMI Connector is 50% smaller than the existing HDMI Mini Connector, specifically designed for portable devices.

A patented 4-Layer PCB Board increases and maintains the distance between solders points, thus stabilizing impedance and improving performance.

The HDMI Ethernet Channel allows an Internet-enabled HDMI device to share its Internet connection with other HDMI devices without the need for a separate Ethernet cable. The Ethernet connection platform also allows HDMI-enabled devices to share content between devices.

The new Audio Return Channel function of the XHT668 allows the HDTV to send the audio stream to the A/V receiver over the HDMI cable, eliminating the need for any extra audio cables.

IXOS has once again positioned itself as a leader in high performance cables for the most demanding A/V uses. [kob]
