MMSA Secretary calls for 'new blood' to steer the association and help shape the future for the independent car electronics specialists

Secretary of the Mobile Media Specialist Association and former editor of Car Stereo & Security magazine, Kevin O'Byrne, has issued a call for people within the car electronics specialist industry to come forward and get actively involved in the association at every level, from director to regional chairpersons and retail members.

In an impassioned plea, he said "The Mobile Media Specialist Association desparately needs new blood to steer the association and help shape the future for the independent car electronics specialists in the UK. With our income having fallen over the last two years to the point where the association has been unable to continue a proactive role in the car electronics sector, beyond the provision of its still popular consumer information web site, the time has come for new people to seize the chance and help revitalise the association.

"There has never been a more important time for the car electronics specialists to come together," O'Byrne continued, "to share their business fears and knowledge, and pool their technical knowledge so that a credible independent, nationwide installer network can be assured into the future."

At a time when many long-established people in the car electronics aftermarket have retired, are approaching retirement or have taken a back seat in the business, O'Byrne says it is the time for the next generation to unite their industry, but there is no need to start over again marketing a new body. The MMSA - a non-profit limited company setup specifically to help promote and market the independent specialists - is a recognised name and has created awareness over the years and continues to do so.

"The association may have stagnated somewhat in recent times because of the lack of funds," O'Byrne admitted, "but it's established and provides the ideal conduit for motivated individuals to take it on, get involved and drive home the benefits of uniting the industry. We are looking for new directors and company officials, regional chairmen and members to keep the association alive," O'Byrne added. "It's their livelihood and only through their actions to pool resources and market themselves as a group will they protect it."

If you are interested in knowing more about the opportunities for an involvement in the association, please contact the Secretary, on 0118 970 1612 or by email to admin(at)mmsa.org.uk.
